If you find yourself unexpectedly pregnant, you may feel a variety of emotions. For many students, fear and anxiety can be common reactions to the news that they are pregnant. Perhaps you are worried about your parents’ reaction, or what other students will think.
This can be a difficult time, but you don’t have to be alone. Our caring team at Crossroads Care Clinic is here to help you navigate your pregnancy and provide you with the necessary information to make the right decision.
I Think I’m Pregnant. What Should I Do?
If you are experiencing pregnancy symptoms, the first thing you’ll take is a medical-grade pregnancy test. We offer a urine-based test that is 99.9% accurate, so you can feel confident in the results you receive. The pregnancy test is offered at no cost to you.
Next, you’ll need to verify your pregnancy with an ultrasound. The ultrasound tells you important information, such as how far along you are and whether your pregnancy is viable. In some cases, you may have an ectopic pregnancy, which is not viable and would require an additional procedure to remove. If you are considering an abortion, an ultrasound will also tell you which abortion procedure is right for you.
You’ll need to make a decision following a positive pregnancy test and ultrasound. For some students, the decision is easy to make. You may still feel overwhelmed and scared. For others, it’s more complicated. You may need to carefully weigh your options. You deserve to have all of the facts before making this choice.
Understanding Your Options
There are three options: abortion, adoption, and parenting. Each one has its own risks and benefits. You may also have questions about what to do moving forward. Some of these questions include:
Will I still be able to continue my education?
How will I tell my parents?
Should I have a baby now?
How will I get the medical care I need?
These questions may be daunting, so it is important that you have the support needed to help you along this journey. At Crossroads Care Clinic, we can help you answer these questions and explore your options. You don’t have to do this alone!
